Red-footed tortoises (Chelonodis carbonaria) have been popular tortoises in the herpetological trade for decades. These medium-sized tortoises are not only beautiful and hardy but are also one of the most personable tortoises being kept in captivity today. The Red-footed tortoise is native to South America and some Caribbean islands.
Amanda Ebenhack has been keeping and breeding Red-footed tortoises for ten years. She is a permitted wildlife rehabilitator in Florida, specializing in tortoises. Together with her veterinarian, Dr. Orlando Diaz, they rescue, rehabilitate, and release between 100 to 500 turtles and tortoises each year. Ebenhack is also a board member of the Asian Turtle Consortium, Turtle Homes Rescue, and she is president of the Central Florida Wildlife Center.
In Redfoots & Yellowfoots, Ebenhack will show you how to properly care for your Red-footed and Yellow-footed tortoises. By offering attractive enclosure ideas, plans for a correct and varied diet, advice on captive breeding and hydration and health tips, she will help you keep your tortoise happy and healthy for years to come.
