We will begin holding tortoises for Christmas arrival on December 12th. Any orders before that will be held up to 1 week from the order date (if you need time to prep an enclosure, etc).

To have your tortoise held for shipping as close as possible to Christmas, make a note during checkout with the date you want it to arrive to you

Because Christmas is on a Sunday this year (and UPS is closed on the 25th), the last possible shipping date prior to Christmas is on Wednesday, December 21st for arrival on December 22nd. This will leave an additional day of "wiggle room" in case there is any delays, they will still arrive on the 23rd. In talking with UPS about the potential problems of delayed "live" shipments, they are heavily encouraging us to only ship them out on the Monday-Wednesday prior to Christmas. Long story short, UPS told us "don't risk trying to ship tortoises out later than the 21st."

Keep in mind, everything will be reliant on acceptable shipping weather when Christmas comes! We generally need it to be 15 degrees or higher for the overnight low the morning of arrival in your location, or we just can't ship them. Unfortunately with weather, it's not predictable very far out, so if you anticipate being colder than that, there's a chance your order will need to be delayed or canceled (we will hold them for a delayed shipment, or cancel it if you would rather cancel). When ordering, please let us know your expected low temperature on the morning of arrival, and we will verify this before we ship to make sure the tortoises are safe. We shipped to Anchorage Alaska early this month and with a 15 degree temperature when it was delivered, the tortoise was still warm in the box.
