We use these alfalfa cubes for our large grassland tortoises (sulcatas and leopards mainly) as a treat diet and also a stimulation, as well as for something to keep them busy during the day. Anyone with a large sulcata knows they need to be kept busy or they can get into trouble, and the strong alfalfa scent these have gets the tortoises excited about them.

We normally moisten them briefly, toss a few into their enclosures, preferably where the sprinklers will hit them (the moisture softens the outside layer), and they will usually last a few days there with a light "tortoise load" eating them. They can also be soaked in water for 10-30 minutes prior to feeding, which will soften them almost throughout, and they will usually be eaten quickly. They are 100% alfalfa, and we suggest them for larger tortoises of the grassland type.
